THE CLOUGH

COMMITMENT

30 things to do before you leave school

Primary school should be about more than what happens in the classroom.

It’s a time to discover new interests, explore the world, build confidence and find out what you’re capable of. At Linthwaite Clough, we work hard to make those experiences part of every child’s time with us.

The Clough Commitment brings that promise together in 30 experiences we want our children to have before they leave us.

From performing on stage and meeting an author to visiting the coast, learning first aid and spending a night away from home, there are opportunities to try something new, take on a challenge and make memories along the way.

Building bold, brave, brilliant futures, one experience at a time.

Experiences that broaden horizons

The 30 experiences span arts and culture, civic engagement, sport, outdoors and adventure, and wider life and future skills, giving children opportunities to encounter new places, people, ideas and activities.

These experiences help children grow in confidence and independence, broaden their understanding of the world and build the knowledge and cultural capital they can draw on as they grow. Just as importantly, they can spark new interests and show children possibilities they may not otherwise have discovered.

“The personal development opportunities at Linthwaite Clough help children grow in confidence, resilience and independence. From responsibility as a school librarian, taking part in the Opera North musicality lessons to singing at the Coop Live arena with the young voices choir, there are so many important and enriching opportunities for pupils ensuring every child can discover new interests, develop important life skills and create lasting memories.”

Opportunities for every child

Children come to school with different experiences and opportunities outside the classroom. At Linthwaite Clough, we want every child to have the chance to experience more, whatever their starting point.

The Clough Commitment is about opening up those opportunities to everyone: encouraging children to get involved, try something new and challenge themselves as they grow into bold, brave and brilliant young people.

“My children have been able to experience so much outside of the classroom at Linthwaite Clough; from performing at Manchester Arena with the Young Voices Choir, to outdoor learning in Forest School, to bike riding, learning CPR or playing an instrument, the opportunities have been endless.”
